Veted is the directory we wish had existed when we were the ones writing cheques to contractors we did not know, across borders, in languages we did not speak, with no way to tell good from cheap.
Why Veted exists
Cross-border ownership shouldn't be a leap of faith
European real estate has never been more international. EU buyers buy in Lisbon and rent in Vienna. Brits invest in Spain. Germans renovate in Croatia. None of those owners have a trusted plumber in the city they just bought into.
We started Veted because the existing directories solve the wrong problem. Most rank by who paid most. Lead-gen platforms quietly skim the contractor's margin and pass the cost on. Generic review sites get gamed within weeks. Even the regulators publish licence registries that are accurate but unsearchable for a normal homeowner.
Veted does the boring middle layer. We verify the licence, confirm the insurance, summarise the public reviews honestly, and refuse the businesses that fail. Listing is free, the badge is editorial, and verification is never gated behind a fee. The optional services we sell to already-listed businesses are clearly labelled and do not change who passes the vetting.

A directory that lists anyone is a phone book. We turn down applications that fail manual review, and we publish the criteria openly.
Honest summaries, not curated ones
Our AI summary surfaces consistent complaints alongside praise. The contractor cannot edit or hide it. Reviewers can trust what they read.
Vetting cannot be bought
Being on Veted is free, and verification is editorial. We earn from optional services already-listed businesses choose to use — placement and referrals — never from inclusion itself.
