My stepfather had a problem: the cylinder lock would only turn briefly and then jam. The door was locked and couldn't be unlocked, but luckily he was inside. In any case, the technician saw in the stairwell that there was a property management company and that they were responsible for the repair costs. (The door is over 25 years old and can, of course, wear and tear.) The technician entered through a window and repaired the problem (some part had broken and jammed). The internal mechanism was replaced, but not the cylinder itself, so the old keys can still be used. In the end, it took about 2.5 hours of work plus travel time, costing around €500. The invoice was sent directly to the property management company, and that was that—no money had to be paid out of pocket. The price was quite reasonable for a weekend job (Saturday morning) and considering the time involved. The reason for my detailed review is the number of unscrupulous operators in this industry who just want to rip you off. And a detailed review speaks volumes, even more so than a simple 5-star rating without comment. PS: Stay away from toll-free numbers like 0800 hotlines 😅 Generally, researching what constitutes a reputable company can be helpful. In any case, don't let yourself be stressed or exploited in your emergency. If a technician seems suspicious or demands payment upfront, sending them away immediately is usually the best course of action!
