nhp - Notaries Huppmann, Poindl, Pfaffenberger, Nierlich

A few days ago I called nhp about a last will, because of reviews such as "super helpful, fast, and friendly." The reception said all legal staff were busy and promised to get back within a day. They did not. I followed up with a detailed email including many specifics, such as marital status (same sex marriage), number of children, choice of law (Austrian vs. home country law), and obligatory inheritance share waiver. When a lawyer called me back today, he came across to me as rude and possibly discriminating. After explaining they had been busy rather than apologizing for the delay, he proceeded to question the information I had already provided in writing - was I really married, rather than in a registered partnership, did I really have children, etc. When I inquired why he asked these questions about already provided facts, he took exception, claimed I was somehow negative, stated that he was just doing his job, and of course he was not discriminating, because after all we live in the 21st century. You may wish to draw your own conclusions from statements such as "some of my best friends are [add LGBT+ or any other minority group]", which he felt it necessary to add. However, because of my inquiry about his questions, which he seemed to take as a personal challenge, he didn't really want to have my business. I don't want his either, nor that of his firm, which in my interactions with them was slow, unfriendly, and unhelpful.

I stumbled upon nhp online as I was looking for a bilingual notary/lawyer in Vienna who could assist us with family, inheritance/testament and property matters we were dealing with. Because I was based outside Austria and the rest of my family within Austria, I really needed someone who was responsive and sensitive to that fact - especially in terms of communication. I reached out to 3 separate notary offices and nhp were the first to get back to me with questions that made it very clear that they had understood exactly what we were looking for. Mr. Nierlich oversaw our case and I have to say that I have never experienced better representation. Not only was he able to make the complex legal framework understandable in English, but his profound expertise and attention to detail (important due to our multi-nationality as we had a number of extraordinary considerations) along with his level of patience and personable nature made a seemingly daunting process quite enjoyable in the end. We have now concluded our dealings and look forward to working with nhp and Mr. Nierlich again on any legal issues that may arise in the future.

They literally saved my life with some important documents which I needed for my PhD application! Took less than a day for them to get everything done, and the staff was also super friendly and competent!! Very disappointed by this reputable notary recommended for foreigner. For a simple signature certification of two letters what was promise to take three days took 3 weeks due to a lack of basic communication and follow up on their part through a simple email. Excuse where given by email but when document was finally pick up no commercial gesture on their fee was offer. If for a simple document it took this much time I cannot imagine for other paper!
