Groenterras

We lived in our new-build house for 4 years. And as is often the case, the funds ran out and the garden was left untouched. But after 4 years, the view of 50m² of wilderness, the junk storage, and the unsightly row of rear facades had truly become a thorn in our side. But what can you do about the facades of back neighbors in the city? And a garden the size of a handkerchief—what do you do with that? We sought out Groenterras because of their specialization in small city spaces. The planning took a very long time. Especially because we kept hesitating and the investment was substantial. At Christmas, we said "Go". By the end of January, we had an outdoor space that exceeded our dreams. Groenterras managed to transform an unremarkable patch into a mature oasis of greenery in just 10 working days. A delightful outdoor room that is a perfect extension of the interior space. A new terrace, a burnt wood storage shed and back wall, mature shrubs, and a tree created a blooming garden and a rooftop forest in barely 2 spring months. Proportions were cleverly thought out and complemented with custom-made furniture. Groenterras has a great sense of spatiality and sightlines, and succeeded in creating intimacy where it actually seemed impossible. Nesten and Patrick are hard workers with solid practical insight, high quality standards, and an eye for aesthetics. They are also great guys to have around. They had a solid, practical solution for every question and wish. The result? In barely a month, we went from keeping the curtains tightly closed so as not to have to see the garden, to cheerfully pulling open the curtains every morning, full of curiosity about what will be in bloom today. Johan, Nesten, Patrick, and us… Our north and south-facing terraces were a farce compared to our expectations for our otherwise beautiful apartment. Monotonous, impossible-to-clean concrete tiles, glass panels, and white walls. Something had to change. We met three people, each with their own talents. Understanding the problem, devising a solution, imagining, proposing, and discussing things, usually very smoothly. A comfortable tropical plank floor, beautiful corten steel planters, an elegant bamboo pergola, attractive lighting, plants in abundance, high quality, some even in full bloom, now in December. We can only guess, but we'll never really know which of the trio came up with what; they form a well-coordinated team. The result is impressive, the result of true teamwork, in which we were closely involved, from design to installation. Since November, we've enjoyed these north and south-facing terraces; they now naturally belong to the spaces they extend. Not exactly cheap, no. But in short, high-quality, meticulously crafted work, an abundance of high-quality ground cover and climbing plants, and the occasional artistic surprise that brings joy. Groenterras drew up a dream plan for our small city garden. We were incredibly impressed with the design, which required minimal adjustments. Of course, we'll have to wait and see how the plan is implemented. The professionalism, creativity, and dedication of the Groenterras team turned our dream plan into a dream garden. I’m very happy with the service. My garden was not cheap to realise but the result is a tasteful and beautiful green paradise right in the heart of the city. The attached photo is self-explanatory, as my small garden had no greenery whatsoever before, and I faced a naked wall and neighbours’ windows. I was made aware of all the associated costs at every step of the process. I prepaid a 3D layout study, which was followed by a detailed garden costing and optimisation discussion, and swift implementation. The company team was friendly and attentive to my needs and preferences. The aesthetics of the result and the fact that I now live with the soothing sounds of rustling leaves and singing birds in the city are simply priceless to me. Highly recommended.
