In my opinion the best architectural gate of the 4 enterances the castle. The western enterance to the castle. The only gate that has been used for 17 centuries.
These are the best-preserved gates of the royal complex that was Diocletian’s palace. The secondary entrance to the palace. Today it’s leading out onto the People’s Square, and is located right under the city clocktower – which as you will see has 24 numbered hours, instead of 12.
Fascinated when we saw this gate coming around the corner. It’s impossible not to notice and pass them, despite the fact that they seem to be hidden among other buildings. It looks very impressive.
The Iron Gate is a well preserved ancient Roman gateway. Unfortunately the gate is partially obscured by the medieval architecture added in the centuries after it was built. It leads from the Diocletian's palace into the People's Square.
This gate is part of Dioclecian's Palace - an incredibly well-preserved ancient historical site
