Nowell Carpentry & Joinery

Really good experience! Great craftsmanship, friendly craftsmen and everything was done as agreed and on time.

We had 6 Velux roof windows replaced. When contacting Nowell, they quickly visited us, took measurements, etc. and we received a quote. The windows were installed, really nice work, super skilled and pleasant employees. Can definitely be recommended.

We ordered windows from Nowell, but when they heard that we wanted to install them ourselves, all forms of service disappeared immediately. They measured incorrectly and refused to admit their mistake (which we unfortunately do not have in writing!), they gave incorrect advice regarding the choice of sliding door/double door, and it would be nice to know that it is not possible to grout the model we bought ourselves. Today we are left with goods that we can only make usable with great difficulty - due to missing or incorrect information from Nowell. It is sad that a company with many years of experience and a good reputation can no longer provide good customer service.

When we needed new windows for our house, we decided on the Velfac 200 model. We contacted Velfac and were referred to a window fitter at Nowell in Aalborg. After sending measurements for the new elements, we were visited by Nowell, who went through all the window and door measurements. The carpenter had a few changes to the order, and since I didn't understand the changes, I had a lot of questions. Since it wasn't clear what the problem was, I asked if we could measure the windows from the inside to be sure, but the carpenter wouldn't do that, but he simply stated that "I could get the windows the way I wanted, but my measurements wouldn't fit, and if I wanted the windows in, I would have to choose his measurements!" As a layman, I naturally listened to the professional's assessment, even though the reason for the changes was still unclear to me. It wasn't wise. The result was that we now have two windows that are too small, and a double patio door in a dimension that means we cannot use the terrace if the door is open. We are of course disappointed to have spent more than DKK 20,000 on elements that we cannot use. We have had to find a new supplier for the new elements, as Nowell disclaims all responsibility and is not prepared to help at all. For example, help with closing/sealing the windows, or making new flashing could help, so that we could avoid having to buy completely new windows. In addition, there is damage in another window element from 3 transport screws that have been screwed all the way through into the outer part of the frame. When I complained about this, we simply received feedback that pictures of the damage should have been taken before the window was removed from the pallet. We could not do that for good reasons, as the damage to the frame could only be seen, as is clearly evident from the images sent, after the window was opened and thus removed from the pallet. All in all, Nowell was a very bad and very expensive experience, and we would advise anyone not to use the company.

My wife and I used Nowell when we needed to replace windows/doors in our 60's house. Right from the start, we were met by a competent employee who advised us on which windows and colors suited our type of house. He was not afraid to give his honest opinion, which helped us find the right windows for our house. The carpenters who carried out the replacement were polite and very careful with their work. We have been extremely satisfied with the entire process and will use Nowell Carpenter & Joiner in the future. Thank you for a great job :)
