We ordered windows and a sliding glass door from Skaala. They have a clear optical distortion (“blur effect”), especially in bright sunlight. In the dark, the phenomenon is barely visible, but in bright weather the view is clearly distorted and strains the eyes. In the dark, for example, the neighbor’s Christmas lights seem to flicker, and the landscape looks as if it were viewed through a black grid pattern. Two people thought they had started a migraine, because the optical errors in the glasses resemble the visual disturbances associated with the initial stage of a migraine attack. In addition, one actual migraine attack was triggered by being in the room. The phenomenon clearly strains the senses of sight, especially in bright light. So it is not just an aesthetic problem, but a problem that affects living comfort and well-being. According to the goods inspector, the phenomenon does not meet the definition of a defect based on the standards. However, the inspection was carried out in November in cloudy weather and rain, so the problem does not appear in the same way as in clear weather. Customer service did not respond to messages properly, but either not at all or with a very long delay. In the end, we were suggested to order new glasses with an advance payment at our own expense, although it was also stated that the problem would probably not go away. From a product in this price range, we expected better optical quality and a more responsible and solution-oriented response to customer feedback. We cannot recommend the company based on our experience. In order to make our home safe for migraine sufferers, we will have to purchase new windows from elsewhere at our own expense.
Good work ethic
Complaints handling is substandard. Things are left hanging for so long that the customer gets tired of waiting and fixes the repairable defects at their own expense and suffers the rest for the entire life cycle of the windows. The level of finishing, surface treatment and inspection of the goods before delivery is at a very basic level.
I will not order anything from that woodworker again. The handling of complaints and the speed of the treatment are really substandard.
