This place has 3 different workout rooms and I had the pleasure of working out in 2 of them. I dropped in 3 times during my stay in Akureyri, and each time the coach was super warm and welcoming to me. The other athletes helped understand the workout. And the workouts were super challenging. From traditional CrossFit one day to a Hyrox conditioning style workout. Helga and her team of coaches are creating a fun community of awesome and strong people. Stop in here if you want a great workout and met some real people of Akureyri.
We were in Akureyri for the Holidays and we did a Drop-in at the Nordur Crossfit. We liked it alot, it was not complicated at all. The Coach explained everything to us in English and the Workout was nuts! Would go there again.
Super awesome CrossFit Box with all the equipment you could possibly need. Also awesome people here. If you do CrossFit stop by you’ll enjoy it!
Not a friendly place for a drop in visit. Don't expect the same level of coaching that you would get in Any other country. The coach hardly bothered to give any English instruction - after writing and explaining the WOD in Icelandic, she started the class. I had to ask around where the gear is located and translations of the WOD. During 1RM Workout the coach did not even instruct any member despite there were lots of incorrect movements. Neither the coaches nor the members were friendly or welcoming. No introduction or welcome by the coaches, none of the regulars said a word to me. Though on the whole, I found Icelandic people not to be particularly friendly. Two stars because of nice equipment and box size.
We visited March 2018 and completed 18.3 in the open gym which was free to use. Everyone we spoke to was lovely - they let us borrow equipment, helped us set up our own music and use the clock and score sheets. The members were super welcoming and we spoke at length to about 3 or 4 of them. And then to top it off our car got stuck in the snow in the car park and they came outside to help us push it to the road!! Really don't understand why someone gave this place a bad review. Definitely visit if you're in the area :) Thanks guys at CF Akureryi for helping us out.
