It’s free and you can walk through it in an hour. It’s only a 20 minute walk to the cruise port and you will walk by the church.
Wow wow wow! I so wish we had more time here. This botanical garden is absolutely amazing. Much better than my local botanical garden back home in Texas...and this one is FREE! What?! I like how compact it is because your are constantly surrounded by plants. There are many walking paths so you never have to run into someone. They have some signs around that tell you about the history of the garden. I took so many gorgeous pictures of the flowers. Highly recommend!!
Just had the sweetest time after having dinner in the restaurant. An adorable cat was eager to greet us and blessed us with his presence. He showed us around his favorite parts of the garden. Will always remember this fondly!
A lovely botanical garden in the heart of Akureyri. Visiting in mid-May means catching the very beginning of the Icelandic spring; you’ll see crocuses and a few early flowers peeking through here and there. While many of the plants with interesting Latin names aren't fully green yet, you can easily imagine how lush and vibrant it becomes in the summer. The on-site cafe is also a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy a quality coffee.
Visited in September 2025 and really enjoyed it, despite the fact it rained the whole time, it was still worth the effort. Would definitely suggest visiting if your in the vicinity. BTW- Free to walk through and enjoy the sights. There was a cool looking coffee house, but we did not visit it.
