La Boutique Design

I have never experienced such an unpleasant encounter as I did in this store! I live in the neighborhood and was walking by when I decided to go in and check it out. I had heard about the store through the French Embassy in Iceland where the owner had especially encouraged people who were learning French to come by and exchange a few words. I myself lived in France for a year and speak the language fluently so I was excited to do so as well as look around and check out the furniture and delicacies. I entered the store and greeted them in French. The reaction from the staff was not quite what I expected. They glanced at one another and responded awkwardly. I brushed it off and continued walking around. After spending some time there I found a pastry that I liked and decided to buy it, partly out of politeness so I would not leave empty handed. I walked up to the counter and handed it over. They looked at me with smirks, chuckled, and were visibly mocking my choice. After paying one of the staff members asked me in French whether I wanted a bag and I responded in French as well. They again seemed amused and reacted in the same mocking manner. As I was leaving I could hear them starting to whisper and exchange words with one another, in all likelihood something regarding me, which was extremely uncomfortable. I walked out of the store extremely upset and appalled by their mannerisms, arrogance and over all customer service. It was a horrible experience, and I would not recommend anyone to support this store

Highly recommend this fantastic store. They have some beautiful furniture, tableware, and jewelry that are definitely worth a visit. Also with good service and friendly staff. I had a very pleasant experience there.
