We engaged Patrick McCabe Architects to build our family home having seen the beautiful houses he had built around Galway. Dealing with Patrick, Ronan and Sarah was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Patrick's design surpassed anything we could have hoped for and his expertise, creativity and understanding of our particular needs and tastes resulted in a brilliantly functioning as well as beautiful home, where we hope to spend many happy years. Pat’s project management skills and monthly progress meetings kept the project on schedule and it’s a testament to him and TMF Construction that we moved in within 14 months of building commencing. Pat’s eye for the aesthetic, along with Sarah’s expertise and flair for kitchen design were of great value during the design and build. Their easy and pleasant manner made the project a stress-free process. I would highly recommend him and his team for a house design or renovation project.

Our experience of McCabe Architects for a home renovation has been entirely positive. Sarah and Pat are dynamic idea people. They are also good listeners, and amazed us by coming back within only a few days of our first meeting with fully scaled and integrated sketch plans of what our end result might look like, but tweaked through their own experience and professional knowledge. They also provided a very rough cost estimate of the entire build at that early stage which was a great yardstick to move forward with, and sound advice on Local Authority planning issues. In my opinion, McCabe Architects produce unashamedly modern designs, but they work in an Irish context because Sarah and Pat seem consciously influenced by the vernacular architecture and landscape of the west of Ireland. Whatever idea we had for our house, they were very wise in talking through the impact this might have in terms of weather, light and the general requirements a household might have now, but also in the medium and longer term. These are exciting designers who create striking houses that are entirely comfortable all year around, and most definitely liveable rather than trophy homes. Their design brilliance is apparent in how they seamlessly weave into their plans environmental, economic and mobility issues. The end result is a home which has been "life-proofed;" No mean feat.
