All the equipment, from grinding to welding, is housed in one small room, without a single exhaust hood. There's no chain of command between management and employees. Minimum hourly rates are promised to be increased after a probationary period, but after a while, they either forget to increase it or increase it by 25 cents per hour, humiliating you for your incompetence. Overtime is at the standard rate, no insurance, no sick leave, no normal vacation pay. The minimum rate is officially deposited to your card, everything else is under wraps. Vacations are arranged without your knowledge and you're not informed. If you live to see your vacation, you'll be paid at your own expense or at the minimum rate, since you're officially working for the minimum wage. Foreigners must pay for paperwork and rent housing at their own expense. You must do as your boss says, not a single step to the left or right. If you have work, you work; if not, you stay home at your own expense. There are no rest breaks, only during lunch. Smoking colleagues will blow smoke in your face without a shred of respect. There are no basic showers; the restrooms are like those at a bus station. Conflicts with management are resolved in raised voices with inadequate arguments. Relationships within the team are tense, and your every move is closely monitored, so that you can report it to management and get a bonus. Requests for necessary equipment are handled by a handyman, depending on his mood. There is no production culture.
