We had our will and all the paperwork drawn up by Schaefer. So far so good, which deserves one star... however... I've already requested a callback three times this year for various matters. I had to call back three times myself! Three weeks later, they called once... duh... I apologized profusely and promised to do better, but then they messed up twice more... sorry, Mr. Sjerp and co. Despite being busy and changing your availability, I'm STILL waiting for my callback. Either your paperwork is NOT in order or your communication is completely inconsistent... they always say a caller is faster... except at Schaefer!
Last year, we arranged the sale of our house here; the office was chosen by the buyer. The notary was clear about the settlement and how the finances would be handled. Everything was fine. P.S. The chocolates with the coffee were too delicious; sorry if the bowl was empty.
I've dealt with them twice in the past three months regarding the purchase and sale of a house. While I found the notary very pleasant, I found the service and attitude of others at this office very unprofessional. At the first appointment, the location was changed to the Nuenen office without consultation. I only discovered this upon receiving the appointment confirmation just beforehand. I indicated that I didn't agree to this, and that the appointment had been made for the Eindhoven office. Instead of an apology, a new appointment was emailed to everyone involved, noting that the change had been made at my request. At the second appointment, they forgot to schedule it. Only after I sent a reminder did my real estate agent receive a message that the appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM at the Nuenen office. This was despite the fact that six weeks earlier, they had agreed to schedule the appointment at the end of the day due to other appointments in the morning in Eindhoven. Instead of an apology for their mistake, they told me to simply issue a power of attorney. The buyer needed to know from me that the appointment in Nuenen was scheduled. Finally, because nothing was possible with this office at other times that week either, I signed the power of attorney. But I wasn't happy about it, and I will definitely not do business with this office again in the future. Update: Following this review, the notary contacted me and we had a good conversation. Everything was explained clearly, and I feel like my complaint was listened to. I now felt taken seriously.
~Review has been updated following an agreement with Schäffer Notarissen.~ During our purchase of the house, Schaffer Notarissen was appointed as the project notary. We were initially told the notary would contact us in a timely manner, but this may not have happened due to COVID or busy periods. We contacted them afterward. Since we had read that you can engage your own notary for the mortgage deed, we did so. We had an email slipped through, asking us to provide our basic information. This email might have indicated that an interpreter was required (if the notary wasn't proficient in the other language (English or Turkish in our case), according to the Dutch government). There were some disagreements with the notary's office. After this, we were able to quickly arrange an interpreter for both notaries. An invoice was then sent with research costs, even though we had read that you don't pay anything with the project notary. We eventually got these costs refunded through contact with a friendly Schäffer employee. So, I had both a positive and a bad experience with the company. It probably depends on who you're dealing with, or it was the entire situation that resulted in a less positive experience for us.
