After unscrewing the machine, it was immediately clear what the problem was: the belt that drives the motor to rotate the drum was broken. This is a job that requires taking the entire machine apart. After just over an hour, my dryer was working perfectly again. In short: super fast service and at a very reasonable price too (€150 including call-out charges, labor, and parts).
