It was nice training there right before my flight. They kept my luggage safe! You need to have a lock with yourself for lockers sadly.
During my 1-month stay in Porto, I was looking for a gym where I could continue my powerlifting training, so I chose Fox Gym. Unlike many gyms, you don't have to sign a contract here and you can buy a monthly pass. I recommend the gym to everyone, it is well equipped and has all the machines and equipment you need. The atmosphere in the gym is also very good, the trainers are very nice and ready to help if needed. ☺️💪
As a USA nationally ranked strength athlete in my age group,(60 to64) I do full investigations on gyms before I even leave the country. Well, from the reviews of Fox Gym and the pictures, I thought that this would be an okay gym. I walked 2 miles up the hill from my Hotel, and saw that the front entrance was in an alley. I walked in and was greeted by the nicest lady at the front desk. I looked out on the floor thinking I was going to see where the iron was being pushed. Nope that was cardio and aerobics stuff going on.i thought “okay?”. The lady escorts me down the stairs to the 2nd level under ground. BTW, everything was clean and immaculate. So the bottom floor underground is a boxing ring and MMA stuff. I walk up one level, and I was blown away by all the great equipment in this long narrow space. Of course, the first thing I zone in on was the squat rack. This was apl serious lifting equipment with no frills. Everyone was grinding and blasting. I was back in lifters heaven. Most of the equipment was Hammer Strength which is rare in Europe because of the cost to ship from the USA. The two ends of the gym was strictly devoted to legs. The middle was upper body with a deadlift platform tucked in there. It’s hard to find these gyms anywhere in Europe All in all I’ll give it a 10 out of 5, except the music. If your gonna have a Rocky Balboa/Pumping Iron type gym, you gotta crank the Death Metal to really get that testosterone boost. Metallica, AC/DC, OZZY, and so on. 80’s pop music just doesn’t get the blood flowing for me. But I had my headphones, so no worries. In summary, I can’t wait till later today to blast deadlifts, and upper body. Don’t go anywhere else in Porto if your a serious lifter, or even not a serious lifter. I’m getting psyched just typing this out. “BOOM”🏋️♀️💪❤️🤙🤙🇵🇹
I am only in Porto for a few days but I wanted to go to the gym. I was looking for a good gym to have a day pass, and I had a fantastic experience at Fox Gym in Porto today. The gym itself is spacious, spread across three levels, with everything from kickboxing and weights to cardio machines. While the equipment is a bit older, they have a huge variety of niche machines you rarely see elsewhere, which makes it really worth it. What stood out most, though, was the people. The receptionist was incredibly friendly and made everything super easy —just €10 entry, no hassle, even lending me a locker and padlock. During my workout, the owner personally brought me a new pad when the hip thrust one was worn, and introduced himself, which was such a nice touch. On top of that, a personal trainer named Ivo was always checking in, helping me set up machines and making sure I had everything I needed. The whole experience felt seamless, welcoming, and genuinely supportive. I’ll definitely be coming back if Im in Porto again!
In Porto for holidays and decided to come train here for the day. Even though it’s a little far from the center, a 5 euro uber ride can take you. The price for the day pass was €10. The 2 ladies at the reception were incredibly polite and helpful and even showed me around the gym. They were happy and glad to be assisting you. The equipment is fantastic as well. Mostly plate loaded hammer strength machines + 1 squat rack, 2 smith machines, 3 cables systems and dumbbells up to 60kg. Machines are also color coded depending on what they’re training (blue machines chest, yellow machines back, red legs, etc). Many people say that it lacks ventilation in the reviews however it is a big space and has an open door always leading outside + open spaces leading up and down to the other floors + many fans. Therefore there is more than enough ventilation. Some other things I enjoyed about this gym is that it offered free water, and no unnecessary rules like some other gym (you can wear whatever you want, you can make noise during your set etc) Even though the day pass is a little much (€10) and that it’s a little far from the center, it’s probably one of the best in the area compared to all the other gyms I saw online in the area. Worth giving it a shot.
