This workshop was a wonderful experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. We took our nephew and niece, ages 11 and 7, and Agostinha was a great instructor both for them and for the adults, very engaging and funny. The way the pigments fuse into a glassy finish created beautiful, durable pieces that we all love.<br><br>Since it takes time to fire the tiles after painting, this is a must-do early during a multi-day stay in Porto, and then pick them up before you leave the city (though I believe the tiles can also be shipped). There are many things I'd recommend to any friends who visit Porto, but this class will be the first thing I tell anyone to do.
Agostinha is an extremely talented artist, and her tile painting workshop was fascinating! I love painting, but my husband was completely new to it and even he thoroughly enjoyed it. We learned so much about Portugal's gorgeous tiles. The workshop really helped us appreciate the immense hard work that goes into hand-painting the beautiful tiles we saw all over Porto, from restaurants and churches to metro stations. If you have a couple of hours, I highly recommend trying this experience.
Very cool experience
This was a wonderful experience. This was my 10 year old daughters favorite experience during out time in Porto.
Coloring the tiles was such a satisfying and relaxing experience. Agostinha is incredibly fun to learn from, she explained the history behind the tiles and introduced us to the different styles you see around Portugal, which made the experience even more meaningful. I booked the workshop on a rainy day, and it turned out to be the perfect activity!

I booked and attended the Azulejo Workshop on January 2nd, 2026. It's a truly memorable winter trip with my children, and I cherish it as a precious memory. Looking at the beautiful tiles baked in the Magic Box at home makes me miss Porto. The children want to create something new with Agustina. The tile painting workshop with Agostinha was fantastic. We received clear explanations and lots of attention. She also told us a lot about the history of the tiles, which was very helpful for the rest of our trip. During the workshop, we enjoyed a delicious glass of port. Agostinha is a very nice woman and is very dedicated. We left with some tips and facts about Porto. A few days later, we picked up our finished tiles, they turned out fantastic. We said our goodbyes and were disappointed we couldn't do another workshop. Highly recommended, if we're ever in Porto again, we'll definitely return!!
One of our best moment in Porto. Augustinha gave us explanation on the different techniques of Azulejos painting and shared her vivid love for portuguese culture. We also had good tips on places to visit in the city. AND she's doing tiles in relief. 👍👍👍
