Excellent serice. Scott came out in the snow, when other people weren't even answering emails, and very quickly assessed the problem in my house. I am more than happy with the service and wouldn't hesitate to call him again or to recommend him.
Finding significant rot was a scary thing, given the history of this house. Scott probably detected my worry, but didn’t take advantage with his pricing. His survey report was well written, and the work started on the week he gave weeks before. He was well organised, turning up daily with the needful for that day. His joinery was efficient and tidy, under the surface as well as above. He cared about preserving period features and left replacement flooring and linings level and inline with the existing. I was happy with the plastering too. Oh, and one more thing: when more nearby work was needed I didn’t feel trapped by exorbitant extra demands that I am positive the bigger companies would try. All was fair. The probably unglamorous “preservation” sector has a really good operator in it. A. MacL, Aberdeen
I am very happy with the work carried out by Scott at Anderson Preservation. What started as a smaller damp issue led to the discovery of further wet rot and an old dry rot outbreak, and Scott was completely honest and transparent about what needed to be done. We were able to agree on the increased scope with full confidence. He took great care from the outset. Protecting carpets, removing skirting and flooring, and carefully stripping back wall linings to properly assess the full extent of the problem. The inspection was extremely thorough, and Scott clearly explained the causes, including moisture being drawn through the wall linings into unprotected timbers. It was reassuring having a damp expert involved, Scott knew exactly what he was looking at, what to look for, and explained everything clearly throughout the process. The remedial work was carried out to a very high standard. He treated the exposed masonry with biocide, renewed several joist ends with treated timber, installed waterproof membrane, reframed the exposed sections, added insulation, and reinstated new flooring, plasterboard, skirting, and mouldings where required. Nothing was rushed or done halfway. Scott really understands the value and character of old granite buildings and treats them with the care they deserve. I’m extremely pleased with the result and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Anderson Preservation to anyone needing damp, rot, or timber preservation work.
I can't recommend Scott from Anderson Preservation highly enough. He recently completed a lintel replacement for me, and the entire experience from start to finish was outstanding. The attached images show the before, during, and after of the work, and the quality speaks for itself. Scott was punctual, polite, and really knows his stuff. I doubt you'll find someone better in Aberdeen. The quote was by far the cheapest of the three I got for the job. Unlike many tradesmen I've had in the past Scott isn't looking for ways to inflate the bill, but just fixing what needs to be sorted out. Not only did Scott do a brilliant job with the lintel replacement, he also went above and beyond when my front door lock broke. He spent around 30 minutes helping me open it and wouldn't take anything for it. This level of integrity and helpfulness is truly rare and deeply appreciated.
Service as a whole was fantastic. From initial quote, which was thorough and priced very reasonably, to the work carried out. He explained the problem, and subsequent solution really well, which demonstrated his knowledge and experience. Scott’s work is really diligent and we could tell he took great pride in the work - not to mention really tidy! Comms during the process (1/2 weeks) was great too. He kept us up to date on all stages of the work, right until the final plastering was done. Couldn’t recommend Scott more.
