I had a survey which recommended one bedroom wall be treated with Warmerwall paint. I did not know what was involved but trusted Peter Cox to do the work. They gave a price which I felt was too high and decided to remove the wall paper ourselves .Peter Cox gave a meagre reduction in price but as we had used them in the past we trusted them to treat us fairly. We had to sign a legal contract before the work commenced .This was surprising it was a minor job and this was not required for past works. The work commenced and was carried out satisfactorily, however the work which was basically a paint job done by one operator only took 8 hours spaced over 2 days including travel time. The price was really high in comparison to the wallpaper reduction allowed which represented at least a third of the work. I asked for a break down of the price and was told it was not company policy to disclose it it rates and material cost because of competition concerns and also reminded me of the legal contract. I have paid the bill but feel disappointed. T

Wood worm treatment in attic space. Excellent staff, but disappointed by vague pricing and poor value. Surveyor Rhys was professional and trustworthy, and technician Murray was friendly and diligent, despite very humid conditions. However, the job (£1,666.80 inc VAT, minus £170 survey fee) in reality only required three hours work despite being quoted as an 8–10-hour job with major prep, a lot of which had been done in agreement to keep cost down. Initial replies to my queries were quick but generic “fixed-price contract” explanations, “Some jobs go relatively easy and some take longer and may even overrun. Again you cannot reduce the ones that go quicker or ask for more money when jobs take longer.”, but then silence for a number of weeks before threatening third party debt collection. While I understand the logic of a fixed-price model, PeterCox's own contract allows for additional charges if work takes longer. Surely, the same principle of fairness should be considered when a job proves significantly quicker. I don’t feel scammed, but clearly overcharged. PeterCox should improve pricing transparency and give customers a clear cost breakdown before work begins.

We were very pleased with Chris’s work. He was friendly, efficient, neat and tidy and kept us informed of what he was doing. Couldn’t fault him. Linda & Francis.

A disgrace of a company. For anyone who has had wall ties placed in their house, ensure they are the correct length and connect to appropriate joists. Petercox fitted the wrong sizes, connected only two ties out of 12 to the joists, the others missed altogether, and of the two that connected they were tied to rotten timber that should have been picked up on as they were visible in the loft. Cost over £10000 to undo their shoddy work and they have fought since day one not to recompense some of the work. They renegaded on a promise to pay for engineers fees incurred by myself to prove their inadequate work. Dundee office carried out the work. Branch manager Colin McKinley at Rosyth has broken promises and has failed to recognise the impact of their work has had. Essentially Petercox has not done anything to find a compromise and happy to take the money and run. No better than your typical bogus workman. No guarantee or any suggestion of one is totally invalid. Be aware!!!!
