It’s not a bad gym at all but the people are so self obsessed and have cameras everywhere recording themselves. It’s so off putting and has ruined multiple gym sessions

Recently renewed my membership here as previously this gym has been the cleanest and best equipped in Dundee. Sadly this in no longer the case, with changing rooms and the gym floor both generally being little short of grim at all times of the day, from dirty stretching mats (the other day there were bits of wrappers and a disposable razer cover in the corner of the women's gym?)and changing rooms to the boxing bag having a few times now had blood on it in the same spot for several days. Maybe some of this is down to insufficient sanitation stations and more of those would help, but I honestly still would expect better for the price, and also since at any given point there are 4-5 staff on duty (some of whome are indeed hoovering but seemingly around the dirt).

Well equipped, not always clean, repairs take forever. 6 weeks and counting to replace damaged punch bags.

Big shout-out to the staff here. You can tell they actually live this stuff — the advice is real, practical, and comes from experience, not just theory. Always approachable, always supportive, and it makes a huge difference as a regular member.

I signed up to JD Gym in the hopes of trying to improve my routine, I really REALLY want to like this gym, I can get over how busy it gets and I have to shuffle my exercises based on equipment available BUT what’s very frustrating in the span of 4 days I signed up, there was 3 emergency evacuation at the Wellgate, last occasion I couldn’t even finish my training had to leave. Now I understand this may not be directly JDgym’s fault but the annoyance of these occurrings at the location makes it less desirable. Something to bear in mind before signing up! UPDATE 14/10/2025: One month in, since the initial mishaps during the first week, there were no issues with alarms so far! Gym still can be busy at times but with careful planning can hit all the machines want to use. Change the 2 stars to a 4.
