We discovered Tayforth Properties after dealing with a very questionable company beforehand. What a breath of fresh air! Professional, honest and trustworthy. We can’t recommend Jill and Vici highly enough. Don’t look any further.

Leaking roof, broken window, no heating, and unsafe living conditions — my year with Tayforth Properties was a nightmare from start to finish. I rented a flat through Tayforth Properties in Dundee for one year, and the experience was nothing short of awful. From the very beginning, when I reported issues, they were convinced there was nothing for them to do and outright ignored me. My room was at the very top of the building, with a slanted ceiling under the roof. The window was ancient, with a rotting wooden frame full of mold. It was so poorly sealed that whenever it was windy outside, it was windy inside my room — even with the window closed. I complained multiple times, but it took months of back-and-forth emails before they finally replaced the window. During one storm, I had to tape it shut to stop the wind from literally blowing my hair at my desk. After that storm, water started leaking down my walls — the roof clearly wasn’t sealed properly. Water even dripped onto the electrical outlets, making the room unsafe. When I reported this, Vici from Tayforth told me, and I quote: “We don’t think there’s anything wrong with the roof. We just think the leakage was caused by the height of the building and the amount of water. But there doesn’t seem to be any rain in the near forecast.” This was in Scotland, in winter. It still took months to get someone on the roof to seal it, and in the meantime, my room was unsafe to live in. The agency’s “gesture of goodwill” was waiving one month’s rent (£250), which didn’t even begin to make up for the stress, discomfort, and risk to my belongings. Throughout my tenancy, there were also long periods without heating or hot water — in December and January, while my walls were leaking and my window let in constant cold air. Even when I was moving out, serious leaking persisted in the living room — my then-flatmate had two buckets filled with water and didn’t know what to do. Tayforth Properties showed complete incompetence, disregard for tenant safety, and a lack of basic decency. I would strongly advise avoiding them at all costs.

Jill, Vici and team have been absolutely brilliant in supporting us in renting out 2 properties in Fife over many years. Some of our tenants have not always been ideal and fallen behind with payments. Jill and Vici took the worry and pain out of negotiating with the tenants and over an agreed timeframe recovered the rent in full. When the time came to sell our properties, to buy our own home, then they continued to help us deal with the properties long after the tenants moved out. I strongly recommend this friendly team to anyone considering renting a property in Dundee and the wider area. They’ve been much more helpful and customer focussed than larger rental agencies we’ve used in the South.

I have rented the property back in 2022, ever since then i am still living in the same apartment. I must say the correspondence and the reply for any work is very quick and helpful. Also they do the security and safety checks every month. From start to finish, I had a positive experience with this property and the management
