In my case it went very smoothly in that having failed to get anyone “local” (Dundee) to fix my Freezer and gone through NAC who passed my job on to Alasdair, he came up from Edinburgh a couple of days later whilst doing a number of jobs in Dundee, diagnosed the fault and said he would get a price for the part, which “should be £100 to £200”. He got in touch to say that with VAT it was going to be £288. Having already paid for the standard NAC Callout and included All Labour of £114, this was clearly going to come in at about half the cost of a new machine, for a fix (new Temperature Sensor Control Board for the Compressor) that I had no idea if it would be successful or not. Alasdair assured me that if I wanted to go ahead, and if it did not work, he would refund me for the part. Really could not be fairer than that, and I went ahead. Alasdair’s confidence was fully justified, and Freezer now working again. Great to not needlessly send a quality machine to landfill that should have years of further life ahead. Thanks Alasdair.

Alasdair came to repair my dishwasher. He did this within 5 minutes. I also had an induction hob that I was having difficulty trying to get someone to install and he came back the next day and did the job! It wasn’t a regular installation and required some joinery work as well. He did a superb job, got on great with the dog and hoovered up as he went along! Thank you Alasdair!

I requested a repair for my washing machine. The engineer initially visited and diagnosed the issue as a power supply fault, stating that he would order the required part. Later, I was informed that the manufacturer had stopped supplying parts for my model.

After doing my own research, I found part on hoover website and sent the engineer the website link. The part was subsequently ordered, but when the engineer returned, he advised that it did not fit. I was then told that Hoover had confirmed the required part was not available for my model.

As I was not convinced, I booked an engineer directly through Hoover. The Hoover engineer visited and successfully repaired the washing machine over two visits by replacing the necessary parts.

This experience was frustrating, as I was initially informed that the machine could not be repaired due to unavailable parts, yet Hoover was ultimately able to source the correct components and complete the repair.

Alasdair came out to repair a fridge freezer. Turned out it was completely broken after 10 years. I decided to buy a new one. Alasdair supplied and fitted the new integrated appliance at a good price. Very happy with the install.

My fridge freezer which was beyond repair was removed and replaced the next day. That was helpful. However, with the washing machine which had broken down at the same time there was a different story. With this there was the most tremendous hassle; the repair man saying he would turn up then not appearing, without a message of apology and no indication of when he would actually appear. Trying to speak or to, or text with the repair man was well nigh impossible. More often than not he did not acknowledge my messages or texts therefore I felt I had to keep trying to get a response. To say it was frustrating hardly describes the experience. More like a feeling of desperation. I have never been treated in such a way by any company I've ever had dealings with.

AVOID.

I had Alasdair out to repair a seal on my washing machine. The very next time I went to use it the machine started smoking heavily and had a strong smell of burnt plastic. I had to call out the fire brigade (picture included as proof) and bring in a fully qualified engineer to do a full report and their conclusion was it was the seal that caused the smoke and smell as the rubber was rubbing off the door. Alasdair has obviously not fitted the correct seal for the machine or not fitted it correctly at all and refuses to take any accountability. I’ve had to report him to trading standards as if a fault occurs shortly after a repair has taken place, it’s presumed the fault was never fully fixed. This is industry standard. I now have to take legal action because he won’t refund me knowing I still need to pay someone to do the job properly. It’s not about the money but rather the principle.

Going by the reviews it seems his services are going down hill with quite a few very bad recent reviews. Also in regards to the review below mine which states alisdair has threatened the customer - I can confirm this is the number for his business with the screenshot attached so not sure why he has responded pretending it is not his number when it’s listed everywhere as his business number. Seems like he can’t accept accountability for anything, every review he responds to there is some excuse or it’s the customers fault. Just a shoddy man with a temper and a fancy van!
