Lorna and her team at Agora managed to secure all the permissions necessary for building work at our home. This was most surprising as we'd informally learned that such development was unlikely to be approved due to our home being in a conservation area and also a B listed building. Yet the permissions were achieved with minimal back-and-forth with Edinburgh's planning authorities. In fact we subsequently asked Lorna to work up a second set of plans for additional work and this too obtained the required permissions without any fuss. So Agora should be your go-to for any projects where you think permission might be iffy.
We used AGORA architecture to reconfigure the ground floor of our house. Lorna took the time to really get to know us and what we needed from the property. We were nervous about what the job would entail but with Lorna project managing all the big stresses were taken away allowing us to consider the final fixtures.
We could not be happier with the space created it is exactly what we wanted and needed.
We would definitely use AGORA Architecture in the future.
Lorna designed our kitchen and first floor extension. She was brilliant at listening to our needs and offered multiple great options to choose from. Lorna is very knowledgable, responsive and a pleasure to work with. We are so pleased we picked Agora and would highly recommend.
Lorna from Agora Architecture & Design provided plans for us to redesign our kitchen, which included removal of a wall and installation of French doors to make it into an open- plan kitchen dining area. Lorna was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. It is now a great space which we love.
Wonderful architect. Lorna provided multiple design concepts (all were very tempting). She was able to translate my brief perfectly and elevate the ideas further. We’re delighted with the finished space and it suits our family so well. Lorna was always quick to respond and found solutions where needed. 100% would recommend
Lorna has designed a beautiful and practical room divider for our kids room in our Stockbridge home.
With features such as secret compartments with swivelling covers or open porthole so they can see each other, talk and pass items over.
The kids love their new “rooms” and the whole thing is designed so it can easily be dismantled and moved without damage to either walls or floor.
Very happy with the result and Lorna was a pleasure to deal with during the process.
Lorna provided a professional helpful service at a good price. I highly recommend using this company.
Home extension, Cramond

I was recommended AGORA Architecture & Design, by a local building company, and approached them to carry out the planning and management work for a ground floor extension including utility room, cloak room, shower and toilet.

Throughout the design, consent, construction and project management stages Lorna and her colleague Gaynor were professional, friendly, and efficient. Good communications were maintained throughout between builder, architect and ourselves and all planning consent issues were likewise dealt with quickly and efficiently.

We now have the additional space we had hoped for and are enjoying life with the new space.
Lorna and Gaynor really got us off to great start for our extension project in Mountcastle,Edinburgh whereby we enlarged the existing kitchen dining area by removing an internal wall, replaced the roof, and added great design features such as three fabulous window lights and bifolds. Lorna and Gaynor saw us through the whole process from initial discussions about what we wanted to design to planning permission and building warrant to tendering for a builder. Their guidance and support were invaluable at all stages and undoubtedly their work at the tendering stage ensured we made an informed decision regarding our choice of builder. As a result we now have an amazing layout which has effectively become our new living area. Would have no hesitation in recommending Agora and would certainly call on them again should we need an architect.
Agora designed our extension and kitchen renovation at our home in Duddingston, Edinburgh. They listened to our requirements and came up with ideas we hadn't thought of.They also provided 3D visuals to help us understand the spaces. They handled the planning and building warrant applications for us and, while they kept us informed it was a stress free process. They were very knowledgeable about builders and running contracts. Overall it has been an excellent experience and we would not hesitate to recommend them.
