We run a children’s nursery in Edinburgh, and as part of an expansion project, we contacted Niall at Capital A, to help us with the design, drawings, and both the listed building consent and planning applications. From the experience with listed buildings, mentioned on his website, Niall sounded like a good fit for the work.<br><br>He proved to be professional, diligent, extremely knowledgeable, and we found his fees to be reasonable. He was a pleasure to work with throughout the process and stayed on top of each stage with the council.<br><br>Our planning permission came through last week and we look forward to starting the works. We were recommended to Mr Hedderman by a mutual friend in the hope that he could help us achieve Building Control signoff for an attic conversion which had been left in chaos by previous architect. He quickly assessed the situation, then provided the necessary heat loss calculations & a clear plan to augment the inadequate insulation installed, satisfying Building Standards with an amended warrant proposal when we were coming near to being prosecuted as a result of the situation we had been left in. Our joiner did the necessary work, & recent inspection by Building Control has confirmed that it all meets required standards. We are delighted by Mr Hedderman's rapid & capable assistance & would recommend him to anyone requiring architectural input.

I sought out an architect for a garage conversion. Capital A Architecture was recommended to me and I met Niall who was exemplary. He was patient, supportive and professional. He was able to guide me through the process and adjust plans to accommodate my budget. If I ever have a need for an architect in the future Capital A Architecture will be my first port of call. We recently completed a major renovation to our Edwardian home guided throughout by Niall Hedderman of Capital A Architecture. From the beginning we found him to be very professional but also very easy to work with - he listened to our ideas, incorporated them into his vision and was always ready to offer expert and insightful advice on our options at the various stages. Unfortunately, building cost increases during the pandemic meant that his original, exciting design for a renovation along with a modern extension could not be realised. Instead, Niall drew up plans for an internal re-modelling, worked hard to find us a good builder for the project and then supervised the work - managing to maintain good relations between all parties throughout, while showing an impressive attention to even small details. We are delighted with the end result of a fully-modernised home that is an excellent fit with our lifestyle and would have no hesitation in recommending Niall for similar endeavours.

I can absolutely recommend Niall Hedderman. Capital A did a fantastic job to design and help create a bright and spacious living/dining/kitchen area at the rear of our Victorian home. From the initial framing session where he listened to our wishes, via a collaborative/iterative design phase to overseeing the completed project it was a pleasure to work with Niall. His eye for detail and occasional timely interventions with the builders were critical in ensuring the project ran as smoothly as it could. Despite many logistical hurdles, the project came in largely on budget and the end result is a delightful family space.
