My husband and I are expats, returning to Scotland for work. We've been away for 20+ years in Canada, and needed someone on the ground who could help us through a process we are not at all familiar with. Buying from overseas, sight unseen, can be stressful at the best of times. We knew the market well, and Nomsa and Neill at Cox & Co were able to visit properties on our behalf, and ensure that close friends could also inspect. They helped to ease the process via their recommended lawyer, and in their reviews of the household information. They sent us photos and videos that we could add to the information online, so we got a good sense of the properties. Ultimately, we purchased a home with their assistance. All of this was extremely helpful, but what has been even better is what I would call the 'value added' service and relationships that have continued after the business side of the purchase wrapped up. They have very usefully recommended great tradespeople, and it was a delight to run into the whole team one evening at a local restaurant. I know that we can reach out to Neill and Nomsa for help in the future, and we appreciate that they continue to have our backs. We recommend them most highly.

I'm from the US buying a Flat In Edinburgh, I was originally referred to a local Mortgage Broker to secure a loan, I already had a certificate for from a bank, Along the way there were many indications the broker had NO experience dealing with buyers outisde of the UK and did not have an derstanding of the nuances and differnces in law and US documents I supplied , so after after alomost 2.5 months of poor communication, I found Cox & Co, a mortgage Broker in Edinburgh who has worked with many former US and other International buyers. In the first phone call with Carole, I learned more about the process of obtaining a mortgage, than MONTH's of conversations with the other frim. She understood exactly how to go forward and quicky. A follow up call with Chris further made me realize I made a great decesion to work with COX & Co., Because of their knowledge and expertise they were able to save my agreed upon purchase of a Flat ,as they have escalted the mortgage process for me. I highly reccomend you contact them for your Mortgage needs and especally for Foreign buyers.

Google reminded me of this agency, so here’s my experience: I rented a flat from them which had persistent mould, basic repairs took months if not more and communication was largely dismissive. When my joint tenant left in 2019 I was given five working days to find a replacement tenant or leave the property, all while dealing with a chronic illness. To say they lack basic empathy would be an understatement. One of the agents even raised his voice at me in my own home over a simple question about the contract. Overall, unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile. I wouldn’t recommend renting through them. EDIT: The condescending tone of your response speaks for itself, but I stand by my review. These issues were raised during the tenancy and are documented in the countless emails I sent, including ongoing mould problems. I was told wall vents will be installed, but that never happened. Painting the property took around four months, and only after I repeatedly asked for updates. When my joint tenant left, I was given five working days to provide a full replacement tenant or the tenancy would end. I asked for more time and was refused. This is documented in writing, so being told this is “nonsense” is frankly very low. Calling a former tenant’s experience “nonsense” and “lazy” is exactly the kind of dismissive, hostile communication I experienced while renting through you. People can make up their own minds. From what I’ve seen in other reviews, this seems to be your usual move, blaming tenants and dodging responsibility.

Cox and Co's service is first class. From start to finish their estate agency service was seamless: excellent photos, a great property description and very professional viewings. I was particularly impressed by the detailed feedback they gave me after each viewing, and the way in which they meticulously followed up with each interested party. In a slow market at the time, the team at Cox and Co remained positive throughout, with careful advice on pricing and presentation which ultimately resulted in a successful sale and and a price I was very happy with. Highly recommended.
