Terrible customer support, hidden terms in their contracts, basically take a fee on rents for absolutely nothing. Use their service to find the landlord, then contact directly instead. This company is a complete scam.
I chose Samtrygg specifically for their "Safe Rental" guarantee, but the service failed completely. Samtrygg breached their own Terms (Term 8.20) by releasing my payment to the landlord immediately instead of holding it for the required 15 days. When the apartment proved uninhabitable due to hygiene issues (dirty mattress and bathroom), Samtrygg admitted on the phone that they couldn't enforce a full refund because the money was already gone—a direct result of their breach. I am currently out 1,121 SEK (rent for the initial 5 days) despite never moving in. Samtrygg refuses to refund this remaining balance, falsely claiming they have already refunded the "whole amount." To make matters worse, the landlord cleaned the apartment the very next day and rented it to a new tenant within 5 days. Since the initial uninhabitable condition was his fault, he should assume the loss for those few days—not me. Instead, I am effectively paying to cover his incompetence. Warning: Their "Safety Guarantee" is meaningless if they don't follow it. Because they release funds early, you are left at the landlord's mercy to get your money back if something goes wrong. Think twice before risking using Samtrygg.
Good company for finding a lease but when it comes to renovating it is such a struggle. They kept asking me to pay the deposit (which I had paid 2 years ago) through emails and when I replied back their answer was unsatisfactory and unprofessional “what’s the address?”. If you are charging for something then at least you should know the address of the apartment you gave on a lease. They told me they would need to charge me an extra fee but didn’t explain how much the amount was and at the end turned out it was all a “mistake”. overall customer service and communication could be better
I live abroad preparing to move back to Sweden so I used this company to legally secure a home without the stress of what I still had to go through. This company had advertised an apartment on their website and when I paid my deposit and prepared to move in it was completely filthy with broken ceilings, stained walls, and sewage plumbing failure that caused an awful smell throughout the apartment. I requested a new apartment and when I signed that new contract, I was told that my previous deposit would apply to the new contract because I never used the old apartment. Happily, I signed and prepared to move in. Then, I receive an aggressive email from Samtrygg demanding that I pay a separate deposit and if I don't they'll contact the new landlord and tell them to not give me the keys at move in. Which was entirely unnecessary because I already paid first month's rent and Samtrygg could have just called me to talk about the deposit instead of threatening me. They also never sent me an email or link to pay the current deposit. So Samtrygg demanded after taking my initial deposit of 16996kr and never paying me back from a place I never lived at, Samtrygg demanded I pay an extra 29898kr or else they will bully me and prevent me from moving in to my new home that I already paid rent. I was told when I signed the new contract that my previous deposit would merge with the new and I would only have to pay the difference. This company is completing fraud at the expense of advertising fake apartment photos that don't resemble the authenticity of the real homes. This creates a waste of time and money for customers while Samtrygg further generates millions of SEK per year at customers expense. Naturally, companies like Samtrygg views homes prior to advertising them to assess legitamacy and functionality. However, This company does no such thing and when they're at fault they don't apologize or send your deposit back which is unprofessional and illegal. When I was in Sweden, I called multiple times trying to get in touch with Samtrygg customer service regarding the previous apartment. I never recieved a call back and everyone told me to wait and rushed me off the phone. I don't think it's impossible for this company to do better, their business idea is smart, although treating customers more respectfully needs to be taken into account before they demand more money they are not legally entitled to and quit the email bully tactics. I will be uploading the previous apartment photos that Samtrygg advertised as a home on their website. After much constant unfair treatment and money spent, my story needs to be reviewed to prevent others falling prey to the same situations. Customers need to feel more reassured that Samtrygg is taking these situations more seriously. It's important for all parties to know that Samtrygg sends someone to review a home before it is advertised online to validate the integrity of the advertised property. Samtrygg please update your billing department and customer service so situations like these are limited and to prevent unnecessary stress and bullying to hardworking customers. Also, after confirming with multiple staff that Samtrygg owes this amount, I still recieve emails everyday to pay 16996kr, which is harassment.
First the rent process was quite easy and we had a virtual tour of apartment. The landlord was quite nice and understand our situation very well. The apartment is well furnished and quite clean. As a foreigner we enforced to pay rent/deposit for the first month. The worse part is the delay (one week) in taking back the deposit. I contacted with them two times and receive the deposit two days later. Strongly recommend if you are looking for a furnished apartment in Sweden especially from abroad. Thank you Samtrygg for good job.
