Our experience with Bridgfords Leeds has been appalling from start to finish, and I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this letting agent.

We were pushed hard to move into the property quickly. During the viewing, we saw mould and only agreed to sign on the condition that it would be treated before move-in. It was not. When we moved in on 31 July 2025, there was still mould across a bedroom, in the bathroom, and on appliances including the fridge and cupboards. There was also drug paraphernalia left behind. No tenant should be rushed into moving into a flat in that condition.

It took around two months for the mould to be dealt with properly. In the meantime, we spent months chasing Bridgfords for updates, action and basic communication. On multiple occasions over several weeks we were ignored, fobbed off, had calls ended on us, or were not contacted back. Instead of fixing the problem, they left us to do the chasing.

We also asked Bridgfords for a copy of the signed form where we had raised the condition that the mould would be treated before move-in. They refused to provide it, ignored repeated emails, and only responded after we made a formal request to obtain the document. Then, the day before the deadline, the form was suddenly “found” and uploaded.

Alia Gould, the manager, was a major part of this experience. In our view, she handled the situation extremely poorly. Our concerns were not treated with the seriousness, urgency or professionalism expected from a letting agent. We were repeatedly left feeling ignored and dismissed.

After moving in, we discovered that the landlord had not kept up with the mortgage and the flat was at risk of repossession. We contacted Bridgfords and were told they knew nothing about it. We were repeatedly told they were in contact with the landlord and assured that everything was fine. At the same time, our emails on this issue went unanswered for weeks.

After around three months, the property was removed from Bridgfords’ management and taken into receivership. Only once the rent was no longer going to Bridgfords did they start replying properly — and at that point they began emailing us claiming we were in arrears, despite us having told them from day one exactly what was happening and keeping them updated.

After being pushed to move quickly into a property that was not properly prepared, we ended up facing eviction because the bank had taken control of the flat and wanted to sell it. Within around nine months of moving in, we were being forced out of a tenancy we had entered into in good faith and expected to last until at least 30 July 2026.

We made a formal complaint and escalated it through O’Connells’ complaints process, where we were first offered £150 and then £200 while being told Bridgfords did not believe they had done anything wrong. We then took the matter to The Property Ombudsman. After pursuing it from late 2025 through to July 2026, the Ombudsman upheld key parts of our complaint, found shortcomings in how Bridgfords handled the property condition at move-in and how they communicated with us, and ordered them to pay £400 compensation.

This has been one of the most stressful and exhausting renting experiences we have ever had. Bridgfords Leeds showed no real accountability, urgency, or care for us as tenants when things went wrong. Based on our experience, I would urge anyone to avoid Bridgfords Leeds.
If I could give them a -5 stars I would - the worst letting agents I have delt with in my life and I used to be a student so I have delt with many. They do not reply to emails, do not pick the phone. Unprofessional, incompetent, lazy. The horror stories I could tell about these guys and my flat. The landlord is terrible too. His name is David Myers - he wont do anything, he will ignore requests for fixing the flat, he wont approve jobs that need approving and he wont even pay for a cleaner to clean the flat before you move in (that was covered with mold and bugs) and has the audacity to raise the rent. So happy I am moving out so I wont have to deal with them anymore.
Poor communication, difficult to get them on the phone and arrange a viewing. Once I did have a viewing arranged they were late (even though the office was across the road from the property).
Avoid this company at all cost!!! We've been living in a flat managed by this company for 2 years. We asked to extend/renew tenancy agreement with them but haven't heard back from them although we keep sending emails and calling them. We did everything following their instruction to solve the problem but at the end they're extremely rude and kept threatening and changing the move out date to force us remove from the flat immediately. We did our best to communicate with them and they didn't even bother to listen and work on the problem. We intend to officially file a complaint against them after all the mess has been done.
Genuinely the worst lettings agent in leeds, originally mis sold the flat said there was a balcony but it was locked for over a year , never answer the phone. Have no idea what they’re doing would avoid them like the plague
Avoid Brigfords Letting Agency completely. My experience with them was shocking from start to finish. They seem more interested in squeezing every penny out of people than actually providing a professional service. The whole process felt misleading, dishonest, and designed to take advantage of tenants for money.

Unexpected charges kept appearing, promises were never followed through, and communication became terrible once payments were made. Every issue turned into a battle, with delays, excuses, and zero accountability. I genuinely felt like they were trying to scam people out of their hard-earned money rather than help them.

Save yourself the stress and avoid this agency at all costs. There are far more honest and trustworthy letting agents out there.
I had a very disappointing experience. Before moving into the property, I was assured that certain issues and defects would be resolved. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and there was a clear lack of follow-through on what had been promised. Communication throughout the process was also poor. On the day of key collection, I was not contacted or informed that the office location had changed, which caused unnecessary confusion and inconvenience. I had to chase things myself to figure out where to go. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and disorganised. A letting agency should provide clear communication and deliver on commitments, and in this case, neither was met.
Not a very good experience. I felt very positive with Alia until my holding deposit was put down and then her tone and professionalism completely changed. Not responding to emails. They didn’t sort the contract until 2 days before move in even though I states weeks leading up to it how I wanted it sorted and secured. Members were not professional at all on the phone once I’d paid the holding deposit, as if I was wasting their time. What I couldn’t believe was when I’d go to the estate agents to pick up the keys which Hassan was sorting and we’d exchanged many emails as he was the one sorting the contract, and I walked in and was completely ignored by him and the 2 other girls on the desk. Once I was said I was picking up the keys I was told by one of the girls to sit on the table and it’ll be sorted. I sat there for 20 minutes whilst the 2 woman and Hassan didn’t even look over and chatted amongst themselves about something completely irrelevant. It felt so unfriendly and awkward!!! The owner of the flat and flat are amazing though 10/10 can’t complain. I asked Hassan to pass on a message explaining how thankful I was to the owner but never got a reply saying he’d passed it on which basing it off the rest I doubt the message was passed on unfortunately.
