As first-time renovators we had loads of questions, but the team explained everything clearly and made the process straightforward.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for their services.

Thanks.
The structural calculations were turned around much quicker than we expected, which kept our project moving.
Would put 0 Stars If I could.

This has been, without question, the worst customer service / experience I have encountered from any company I have dealt with professionally or personally. I genuinely wish I had never instructed Paddick Engineering.

In December 2025 I appointed Paddick Engineering to manage my retrospective Building Regulations application from start to finish and paid near enough £1,000 for the service. Seven months later, I am still waiting for the process to be completed and have still not received Building Control sign off.

I work in the property industry myself, so I fully appreciate that delays can happen and not everything goes to plan. However, there is no excuse for the complete lack of communication and professionalism I have experienced from Paddick Engineering.

Communication has been appalling throughout. Emails and messages regularly go unanswered for weeks at a time, and on several occasions I have been given information that has later contradicted what I have been told by Manchester City Council. It has left me with very little confidence in the handling of my case.

The application was initially submitted to Leeds Building Control before being transferred to Manchester City Council. Manchester City Council then requested to inspect the property and asked to be provided with photographs of all retrospective works, as the works had already been completed and we had moved into the property. We were assured this would not be an issue and that photographs would satisfy Building Control because the application was retrospective. However, months later we are still waiting for Paddick Engineering to provide Manchester City Council with the photographs in order to progress the application.

What made the situation even more frustrating was the level of communication with Building Control. On multiple occasions, Leeds Building Control informed me that they were still waiting for responses from Ben, despite having sent emails two to three weeks earlier. Instead of proactively progressing my application, I found myself constantly chasing both Paddick Engineering and the council for updates. As the paying client, I should never have been put in the position of acting as the middleman between my own consultant and the local authority.

Paddick Engineering carried out a full inspection of my property before submitting the application and repeatedly reassured me that everything would be fine. In April, I was informed by Ben Tidmarsh, Technical Director, that approval had been issued for works to commence. This made little sense to me, as the works had already been completed before the application was submitted in December, which is the very nature of a retrospective application. Despite this, we are still waiting for Building Control sign off over six months later.

To make matters worse, I have had to involve multiple family members to try to obtain updates because my own emails and calls were being ignored. Even after submitting a formal complaint I have received little to no response.

My experience with the office has also been extremely disappointing. On one occasion, after repeatedly trying to obtain an update, I was made to feel as though I was the problem for chasing progress on a service I had already paid for. After waiting months with virtually no communication, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect updates or answers.

This delay has had a significant financial impact on us. We have been unable to put our house on the market while waiting for this matter to be resolved, resulting in months of unnecessary delay and uncertainty.

I fully expect Paddick Engineering to respond to this review, as they have to many of the other negative reviews. My only hope is that they spend as much time resolving my complaint and completing the service I paid for as they do responding publicly to criticism.

I will now be pursuing my complaint further through the correct legal channels and seeking a full refund for the service I paid for. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Paddick Engineering.
Had a great experience, couldn't reccomended Dan more.
I would strongly advise anyone against using their services.
Great company, from initial enquiry through to completion Paddick were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Best architecture company. Got a few quotes to do the front of my house and they had the best design and the best price. They really transformed it. Great communication and service.
