Filled in the “GET A FREE QUOTE” form on the website.<br><br>The phone rang.<br><br>Me: “I’d like a quote for battery storage, and separately a quote for solar PV.”<br><br>Them: “…Why would you want battery storage without solar?”<br><br>Then came the silence.<br><br>Not an ordinary silence. This silence had voltage. If awkwardness could generate a potential difference, I could have charged the 16 kWh battery I was trying to buy from them. National Grid may wish to investigate.<br><br>For a moment, I genuinely wondered whether I’d accidentally contacted a bakery. Asking a solar-and-battery company about solar and batteries caused the sort of bewilderment normally reserved for ordering a wheel alignment at Greggs.<br><br>The strange thing is that their own website offers three separate options:<br><br>* Solar Panels<br>* Battery Storage<br>* Solar + Battery<br><br>Apparently the website has been operating independently and has not yet informed the staff what the company sells. Selecting “Battery Storage” seems to trigger a full system reboot at head office.<br><br>I was then confidently told they could install everything in two days and that they had everything in stock.<br><br>“Everything” enjoyed a brief but inspirational career as a factual statement before I discovered that the battery I wanted was not, in fact, in stock.<br><br>So I asked the fiendishly complex technical question:<br><br>“What could you offer me for around 16 kWh of battery storage?”<br><br>I wasn’t asking him to solve quantum gravity. I wasn’t requesting a working fusion reactor by Thursday. I was asking a company advertising battery storage which batteries it sells.<br><br>I was then told:<br><br>“We’re not really sales people.”<br><br>Which would be an entirely reasonable answer from a monastery, a lighthouse or a municipal duck pond. It is slightly more surprising from a commercial business that called me after I completed its “GET A FREE QUOTE” form, on a website containing enough FREE QUOTE buttons to be visible from orbit.<br><br>Finally, I was advised that I’d be:<br><br>“Better off ringing sales people on the internet.”<br><br>This was, without question, the clearest, most useful and most technically accurate statement made during the entire conversation.<br><br>I took the advice.<br><br>I contacted a solar-and-battery company for a quote on solar and batteries. I received no quote, no suggested product and a recommendation to contact somebody who sells things.<br><br>One star for the quote.<br><br>Five stars for the stand-up comedy.<br><br>I came looking for roughly 16 kWh of energy storage and left carrying approximately 16 MWh of second-hand embarrassment.<br><br>At least something was generated.<br><br>UPDATE:<br><br>He called me back to ask me why I left him a 1* review.<br><br>I told him he wound me up and wasted my time.<br><br>His "apology" came with the condition that:<br><br>* "I had asked loads of questions" * -I didn't, I asked for a quote and I asked what brands they work with and what they can offer me.<br>..and that<br><br>"He has lots to do and is * extremely busy* ". - Good for them. I was still wanting for him to explain how his conduct of the call is my fault.<br><br>He then said "I'm only two and a half hours away. If you like, I can come over and knock on your door now. and give you a quote."<br><br>I gave him the simple reply of: "I don't want a quote from you anymore."<br><br>But somehow this didn't end the conversation. "Well! If you want to argue then..." I was under the impression that this was an environmentally friendly renewable electric company and not one that does gaslighting.<br><br>I am left with a fascinating insight into an exciting new business model:<br><br>1. Advertise free quotes.<br>2. Be surprised when someone ask for one.<br>3. Explain you're not sales people.<br>4. Suggest they ring sales people instead.<br>5. Offer an unexpected two hour road trip to their door.<br><br>To be fair, I did follow their advice.<br><br>I rang someone else.<br><br>One star for the quotation.<br><br>Five star for the externalising of blame.<br><br>Ten stars to the website, which was clearly designed without the involvement of the director shouting down the phone whilst driving.<br><br>Had his apology been just 1% genuine I would have edited it.<br><br>It's like he expects you to gravel to him?
Excellent service from all the staff, from initial meeting and discussion about what set up would work best to the lads who came and did the work. Installation was done incredibly quickly, they did it in less than 4 hours in scorching heat so credit to them. Left everywhere neat and tidy and Mo and Calum were particularly helpful on the day. Professional and informative. Highly recommend them!
Incredible job clean neat tidy job
A speedy install by an efficient, polite and well-drilled team. A team of folk who were comfortable to have around. All working well - the sun shines!
Mo, Callum, Connor, and team, just wanted to say a massive thanks for the brilliant job fitting the solar panels and batteries. No matter what obstacles came up, you sorted it all out without any fuss. The work is top-tier, and the place was left spotless—really appreciate the incredible effort!
Great experience from quotation to installation. Competitive quote for 22 Aiko panels, Tesla Powerwall 3, Tesla Gateway 2 and Zappi EV charger. Quick installation date with pre-install survey. Andy was friendly and helpful and answered all my questions. The office staff are very responsive to queries. On install day the roofers were fantastic. The panels were installed on 2 roof aspects in a few hours. Neat and tidy job. The electricians Mo and Callum worked late into the evening to finish the job. I was shown how the systems work on the Tesla and MyEnergi apps. Good aftercare and swift issue of handover pack. All in all a great job by a great team. Now looking forward to the savings! What are you waiting for? Give these guys a call!
Pleasant helpful office and onsite staff. Good solution delighted with the installation- thank you
Had solar and battery system fitted today, Mo, Callum and the guys were great, very polite, explained everything as they went along. Tidied up and made good walls etc.
The contractors were excellent; they were friendly, open, and knowledgeable about what they were doing. They altered their initial plans based on what we wanted, and worked with us to arrive at a design solution. The installers went out of their way to engage us throughout the installation and keep us informed. They managed to squeeze more panels on than we were expecting; managed the scaffolding subcontractors well, and got quite a big job done in a day and a half. The battery installation and electrical work running to the garage, which could have been a nightmare, was done beautifully. After the installation, they explained how the equipment worked and how best to manage it. A really easy experience for us, would recommend!
Excellent company with knowledgeable and helpful team. Explained everything in simple terms.
